Import duty/VAT on taking household effects to Greece

Guest7992

I was wondering if anyone knows about this. If I moved permanently to Greece from the UK on a Golden Visa, would I need to pay import duty and/or VAT on any household belongings I took? I have valuable antiques, which I would want to take with me, but  if they attracted import duty or VAT, it would make the move far more financially burdensome and therefore less attractive.

@Ant PJ if you have valuable antiques you need to have a top class freight forwarder to move them for you and they will advise you on any taxes to pay at the other end, everything must be bubble wrapped.

@SimCityAT A freight forwarder will come to bubble wrap everything but you will pay for that service or you can wrap it all yourself,if you dont do it or them you will see damage,I worked one day at that job to help out a friend, its hard work but totally necessary.I read about the actor Dirk Bogarde moving back to london from france with very valuable paintings etc..the removal company trashed the lot somehow,he claimed on them, they paid up and after went bust.
