Hi all,

I have applied for the Belgian nationality last year. After waiting for 5 months (waiting date the commune of Ixelles told me) I wrote to the commune and they told me the police never received my dossier...

What does it mean?? Will the 5 months count start all over again??

Thank you so much in advance!!

You should ask the commune what it means Ann's what the next steps are.  I also applied for Belgian nationality last July, at etterbeek commune. There were no police checks, and i received nationality this month. So, i don't think the police check is necessary.

Did you receive a receipt that you've give them your file?

If not, considered they never send it for investigation and you've lost 5 months...

@AlexFromBelgium thank you!! I did get a receipt!!!

@anindya17 thanks!! I don't think it has to do with police checks but with the police reviewing the docs!!

I think, if you have the receipt that the application is submitted, just wait one more month and it should be considered as approved regardless if they looked in your file or not.
