Hi Everybody,

I'm looking for a place to live and a school for my kids for the 3 last months of this school year 2023 (April / May and June)

We are curently live in Belize (Central America) Where my kids followed all the school year since September in English in their program which is, I think, the same than in Mauritius. My 12 son is in standard 6 or grade 8 and my 6 year old son is in enfant 2 or grade 2. Is there somebody could help me to find a nice and public school for them? And after that, I'll see for a place to rent for those 3 months...

Thank you so much for your responses!

Unfortunately there are two calendars for schooling in Mauritius:

  1. Local or Public government system which is described as thus:

a: The first quarter for the primary sector began on January 9 and will end on March 31.

The second quarter will run from April 17 to July 14, and the third between Monday August 14 and Friday November 3.

b: At the secondary level, the first trimester takes place between January 9 and March 31. The second quarter between April 17 and  July 14, while the third quarter will start on August 7 and end on October26 2023.

2.Private school system which starts in September and finishes in June as they do in Europe and North America.

It will be too late to get admission into govt. schools. You will have to check with each private school to see if they will accept students for their last term.

@External Thank you for your answer.

I could imagine staying from April to July and contact each school to see with them directly.

But I have no idea about the area... I thought find a good English school and after looking where it is to find the place where we will live! How could I do? Find a place and after a school? In fact, I'm a bit lost ;-)

Sending you some contacts.

Indeed you need to find a place to rent first then a school nearby.
