@Bhavna
Hi.
I got a visa December 12 2022 to Guatemala but I can't get a direct flight from my country to Guatemala city.
Please can you help?
My visa is about to expire March 11 2023
Hello Onyekemaria,
i have created a new thread from your post on the Guatemala forum so that members can help you. Most flights include stopovers. Have you enquired at the airport terminal or any international airline ?
Regards
Bhavna
Need a bit more information as to exactly what kind of help you are looking for on this expat site. What country are you in and what resources there have you exhausted in you flight search. With your visa expiring on March 11th, you are soon running out of time to complete this trip that you started planning for, last year. It would seem, if a person were planning a trip and went through the process of acquiring a visa, they would also have inquired about flights in that process too. If there are no direct flights and that is the only possible way that you can get here, what type of help can one of us provide you?
@Bhavna
Yes I have from my airport.
There's no direct flight and even with the stopovers.
I heard is in Panama and Turkey.
Again is very expensive too.
About 3millions my currency.
@Barrymac
Actually am from Nigeria which is so frustrating and disappointing too.
I got this visa December 12, and all through that time have spent alot on the visa process and also making sure the visa is valid and updated by asking one lawyer Francisco Guatemala.
I sent the visa. They confirmed if is valid and updated.
Which I got a response that is a real visa because the lawyer Francisco said I should make sure is real.
Have spent about $2000
On the visa process and try to confirm from the airport too.
The stopovers is in Turkey and Panama. In which I heard that there are deportation from either Panama or turkey.
And there's no direct flight from here and also so expensive too about $3500.
Moreso the visa will expire on 11 March.
Sincerely I feel so frustrating about everything right now.
I want to really come to Guatemala as a Journalist.
Guatemala is my very first country to visit .
I saved towards this trip but right now have exhausted everything I saved.
Am not Happy at all.
I would still love to come to Guatemala if am opportune to. Please if anyone has any idea on what to do. Please help me.
Thanks
Nigeria has a large number of airports so I have no idea which one you would be flying out of. I tried to do a few flight searches myself just now, but could only pick a random airport from the Nigerian list as an example and threw in the flight dates to depart on Feb. 24th and return March 10th. since I have no idea what days you would want to fly. I first tried Expedia and then Travelocity and both gave me the same error stating :
"Sorry, we're having a problem on our end.
Please try your search again later"
Not sure what the problem was with those two sites but then I tried a site called justfly.com and was able to see a large number of flight choices. Most choices contained three flights in both direction so you are looking at rather long flights that are not cheap. I choose Nigeria's airport LOS flying to GUA and it provide me with multiple airlines and each one has stop-overs and different airports in different countries. Those flights started at $1,821.40 and increased from there but you may find different prices when you choose the actual airport that you would be flying out of.
I am not a world traveler myself so I don't know what policies these countries have when it comes to travelers that land there just for a stopover and then fly on from there. That is something you would need to inquire about depending on the flights you may choose.
You are asking for help, if any of us have any ideas on what you can do. We feel your pain but I'm not sure that anyone can help you other than yourself since only you know where you are flying from, the dates you want to fly and then how much you are willing to spend on this trip. You have already spend a great deal of money securing the visa but at this late date, your planning for this trip was not too well thought out.
Good luck with your flight search, since that is where you need to concentrate your efforts right now. I am not sure what any of us could do for you at this point unless there is someone out there with a private jet that it willing to fly you from Nigeria to Guatemala and back.
@Barrymac
Thank you very much for your response and honest answer.
I appreciate it
May God bless you
All I can say now is that let God have his way on this because am tired already.
Let the will of God come through for me because right now I don't have nothing on me.
Stay bless ❤️
Thanks 👍
Hello onyekemaria,
I don't think that you should be giving up so soon...
You can try this out: Flights to Guatemala
You simply insert the airport from where you will be flying and you will find the best price for your flight to Guatemala, thanks to our fare comparison. I hope that this will help you
Cheers,

Expat.com team
@Yoginee
Thank you for your help
I have tried all possible ways.
Flight are expensive
Not actually because of the price but because there are no direct flight and the stopovers in Panama and Turkey do deportation with a deposit of $3000 before a flight can be booked to that route.
Am totally tired and given up on this
😭😭😭
Thanks
Stay bless
Onyekamaria,
I agree with Yoginee that you should not just give up at this point. No matter what your beliefs are, leaving it in God's hands does not solve your flight problems. The site I looked at yesterday had many more flights with stop-overs in many other countries besides Panama and Turkey, so take those two places off the list and look at other flights then check the rules for a passenger with stop-overs in those countries. Again, you have not mentioned the airport in Nigeria that you are flying out of and what your price budget will allow you to spend, so it makes it impossible for one of us to help you search flights. Don't give up now, start by using the site I provided to you yesterday or the link that Yoginee provided above and start searching flights. You will not find direct flights, so forget about that idea.
@Barrymac
The airport is Murtala Muhammad international airport. I made a research.
KLM and Airfrance are going to Guatemala but the transit is USA and I do not have a USA transit visa.
Please help me
I don't really know how to go about this.
This really making me sad 😭😭
@Barrymac
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines(KLM.com.ng) and Air France are going to Guatemala but the stopovers is in Paris 7 hours and the second stopover is San Jose,Juan Santa Maria 3hours. I don't have a transit visa to New York because I was told that is required from my airport here.
Murtala Muhammad international airport Lagos about $3000 round trip.
I was there today.
Please check on my picture, I uploaded my visa and passport photo on it.
Onyekemaria,
As I said earlier, I am not a world traveler with experience flying to Europe or other countries , other than central America. I am a US citizen and the flights that I have taken from the US to other destinations, I have not had to deal with transit visa or the like so my knowledge of that is little to none but there my be others out there reading these posts, that can add to the conversation.
What is a bit baffling to me is that you would spend the $2,000 on the 90 day visa without having first inquired about fights and transit visas for those stopovers prior to following through with your visa application.
If you have uploaded your visa and passport photo, they do not appear in this series of replies but I am not sure if they would help any of us when kept comes to offering suggestions for your situation.
You still have a small window of time left on your visa, so do not give up your flight search but do keep in mind that you will need to return to Nigeria by March 11th. I see in your information page that it says that you would like to live in Guatemala and it is advisable for you to look deeper into what is required for that rather than staying here after your visa had expired.
@Barrymac
Thanks for your reply
I know that every foreigners are required to leave the country before a visa expires.
I can't come stay in Guatemala with an expired visa so I would be stranded and start sleeping on the street as I heard.
The only flight with 1 stopover is in Atlanta USA
and that's Delta airlines but it requires me to have a USA transit visa if not their will be a deportation.
I can't withstand any embarrassment from any immigration officer.
I make sure everything is genuine and valid.
Yes, I didn't make an enquiry about Guatemala ticket before booking for a visa. That's my worst mistake ever and I know what all this has cost me this few weeks.
For now I had to leave everything to God.i truly need help but still my visa is expiring March 11
I don't know how to go about USA transit visa right now because my pocket is so dry now.
I really appreciate your help so far.
Thanks alot.
I was a bit Skeptical of your story from the beginning but was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and attempt to help out.
I am not sure why someone would have pursued in acquiring a visa to a country so far away from their own if they did not have the money to pay for the air fare, not to mention the other expenses of food, lodging and transportation that come with a trip from Nigeria to Guatemala. I am starting to wonder about your motives for this post on our Exapt site and how genuine your story really is.
After the suggestions made by me and others here, and then listening to your responses and stating things like:
"I saved towards this trip but right now have exhausted everything I saved" and
"I don't know how to go about USA transit visa right now because my pocket is so dry now"
I can not help but feel that this is just another internet scam in an attempt get some poor soul to send you money.
If it your intentions to lay out a hard luck story to tug at the heart strings of our readers so that they will feel sorry for your situation and send you money to help out, hopefully there are NONE gullible enough to fall for it.
@Barrymac

I need help. Yes. This Doesn't give you the right to insult me, although am poor but before my father died as a retired Soldier he thought us lots of good morals and non of my siblings are scammers.
And am not a thief. Am a single mother, what legacy will I keep for my son and other kids coming after him? There's Karma to everything we do in life.
If anyone is willing to help, is not by giving me money. Moreover I didn't ask anyone to give me money here. I have a reputation to protect.
Have never been tagged a thief neither do I have any criminal record in my country or anywhere.
You can confirm that. *** is my Facebook account. Email ***

That's all, I didn't ask you to give me money.if you have the heart for Humanity for helpless person.
Not calling me names.
Am not a thief neither a Scammer.
I only ask for help and which is not a crime to ask for one. Well, am not angry. I publicly share my problems on this platform so surely there would be an insult from 2 or more people. Am not discouraged. Guatemala will pass but myself and dignity for my family and country remains and I will never be discouraged by some words to pull me down.....
Again, if you heard of such things happening in my country doesn't mean that all citizens of Nigeria are thiefs because God created every human being differently just as your 5 fingers are not equal. God has a better plans in stock for me if not Guatemala there are other countries in the world. this I believe.
The visa will expire anyways.
Thanks for all you've said, May God bless you.

It is hard for me to let your replies go on answered.
If I am understanding you correctly, you state this:
"What I expect is a flight ticket paid and just give me the papers, That's all."
Now you are asking for something and that is a ticket, rather than us help you to find a flight. I ask how in the world you would use that ticket IF someone did buy it for you, if you are saying that you would not be able to get a transit visa for the countries you would be passing through or be deported from others. No one could apply for those visas other than you.
No, I'm sorry but this story does not add up or make any sense at all. Playing the victim now where you say that I am calling you names and stating it is not a crime to ask for help.... Well I've got news for you, scamming anyone with a fabricated hard luck story IS A CRIME.
Asking for help for the situation you have laid out from the beginning, had no resolution AT ALL since there is no way for you to fly from Nigeria to Guatemala anyway. I am sure this posting on our Expat site was your attempt to have these readers feel sorry for you and your misfortunate story and offer to send you money to help. Now that I am questioning the validity of your story and your motives behind it, you are now saying that you just expect someone to pay for your ticket and that makes no sense because you couldn't use it anyway.
These scams are out there every day and they are reinvented time after time to pray on the generosity of people with big hearts. Hopefully your attempt to add a picture of a lovely woman in a blue dress and paint such a desperate situation in your story line, has not fooled anyone of the readers coming across it on this site.
I just ask the question on Google, "In what country are most internet scams originated"
Top 10 Scamming Countries in the World to be aware
Nigeria: Nigeria is at the top of our list of the top 10 most scamming countries in the world, with the highest rate of getting scammed. ...
I see that while I was in the middle of writing the last reply you see above to onyekemaria, that person had also been busy writing.
You want the readers to think you are a victim here and that there is no way that you could possibly be a thief or a scammer. This is why so many people fall for scams because they believe in words like this that are being type with such genuine heart felt sincerity. The problem is, you do not see the person at the other end that is typing those heart felt words and this is the advantage that scammers have. All though you are trying to legitimize yourself by giving us Facebook information and a Whatsapp number and asking for some to track you and check you out, there is no way of know whether Onyeke Maria is actually the person writing all of this and you surely know that.
I was trying to help in the beginning because I thought this person needed help finding a flight but as this story unfolded I realized nothing added up and there is no way that an Intelligent person would have gone to the trouble of acquiring a visa and not have the money to actually take a trip of this magnitude. It has scam written all over it. The only reason that I wrote these replies is in hopes of saving a good hearted person from making a big mistake and actual send money because they feel sorry for this persons misfortune. Now they say they don't want many, but a ticket instead.
There will be some that think I am bashing on a poor innocent women from Nigeria. You readers believe what you want but if you think that you could not possibly be fooled by such genuine words this person is writing, think twice. This is why so many people fall victim to a scam like this, they are so convinced by what they are reading. Please don't be fooled, these people know the right things to say to make their stories believable. Unfortunately this story has so many holes in it that it could not possibly be legitimate.
