after watching the beautiful rainbow people last Saturday and feeling very proud that the PM of Australia also joined the parade, we drove down to Grand Bay to continue partying.

to our horror, we found creeps, pushers, druggies almost everywhere. strange looking people were noticeable.

the streets were unlit or poorly lit. CCTV were mostly unseen.

A WARNING TO ALL EXPATS, BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN LOOKING FOR NIGHTLIFE IN GRAND BAY.

Nightlife in Mauritius is almost non-existing, sadly…

That is just not true. From Banana to N'Joy or the night clubs (Insomnia area), every body walks and it's safe.

It's not very well lit that is true, there is really nothing to be scared of, except maybe your own prejudice

@rubelle Did anyone actually do or say anything to you that concerned you?

My adult children went for a night out to the clubs and Pubs in Grand Baie and walked home to Perybere in the early hours of the morning. Although they were a group of 6 they felt very safe

it's a bit dark and some scruffy people but not much to worry about. Of course don't flash your phone and cash like in any city.

Been living in Grand Bay centre safely for 30 years now
