The owner and bandleader Trần Mạnh Tuấn had to close it during Covid due to lack of traffic.

Luckily I had a chance to sit in with him, just before he shuttered the place.

He says (on social media; he's a FB friend) that he hopes to reopen a new club someday, but no firm plans yet.

Meanwhile he opened a pretty impressive-looking private institute for jazz music instructions, but there don't seem to be any public concerts by students.

He also posts to YouTube

His daughter has been studying at Berklee School of Music in the USA.

I was fortunate to catch her act a couple of times in HCMC, and I'm looking forward to hearing of her return to Việt Nam.

Thanks so much for that Gordy, we are back in early May.

So to follow up, it turns out that TMT has been ill for about 18 months.

No, I don't know the illness for certain, but based on little clues he puts in social media posts, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a stroke (CVA).

Anyway, he just posted his first new performance since becoming ill (link)
