My wife and I are retired and living in Cape Town, I'm now burning the keyboard researching a host of questions like:

Recommended shipping agents.

The most economic way to transfer both Lump sums and monthly income.

The best Mauritian bank to use (I am with Capitec in S.A. who bought up Mercantile who I believe have a presence in Mau, so it seems logical to use them).

The steps and sequence of actions required to obtain a retirement Visa with no hiccups!

Are freehold houses available to purchase on obtaining a retirement visa? or before?

Which are the trustworthy estate agents?

Looking forward to all your advice and comments,

Regards,

Michael and Olana.

For money transfers try XE.

MCB would be my recommended bank in Mauritius.

You will be limited in what you can buy if you are not a Mauritian citizen. Real estate agents tend to overprice, so look into private vendors if you can.

If you have a trusted family member or friend in Mauritius they will be able to guide you.

Also have a look at Youtube videos on moving to Mauritius - I found them helpful when I moved.
