Planned Visit to Luxembourg

Post new topic

Bonjour à tous! Hallo an alle! Hello everyone!

I’m planning a trip to Luxembourg in May and was hoping to get some advice on whether my plan is sensible. I'm in my thirties and reasonably fit, so want to do some exploring of the countryside, but nothing too ambitious. I have tried to go for a mix of indoor and outdoor stuff each day (partly to provide a bit of variety and partly because I'm not sure what the weather will be like each day).

I'm not sure which days to assume most things will be closed  - I'd assumed Sundays but it seems to be Mondays for most things? I'm also not sure if planning to visit museums at the weekend is a bad idea as they will be most busy then? Any advice would be very much appreciated!

I’ve got a late arrival on Thursday 4th and leaving early afternoon on Friday 12th, so I’m not planning anything for those days. I have a hotel in Luxembourg city so I’m planning a couple of trips to do bits of the Mullerthal Trail, not staying overnight on the route. I’ve got no strict budget, but don’t want to go too mad with spending, so would rather do at least a few free or cheap activities.

On the planning side, I’m not sure if it’s better to do Vianden and Diekirch as separate day trips? I’m also not sure if a day trip to Trier is worth adding in. I speak reasonably good German and pretty terrible French, so I’m hoping to get a chance to get some practice of both!
