Updating the Portugal guide

Great idea, However, apparently the immigration system in Portugal is going through many changes, and rules can change by the hour and unexpectedly.

A guide is great, but what is really needed is a real time info page about each type of visa and the requirements of THAT day. Because what I read yesterday might be different today.  It would also be helpful to include what the requirement changes are between one day and the next.

Its easy to tell your readers to check the Government websites to check for recent changes, but the real service would be if you checked those websites and kept the readers up to date, on a realtime info page.

My request is for information is if there is any way to try and understand or a resource for all the medical travel and health insurance requirement/options available before I go to my consulate appointment in the US or in any other country.  All the carriers want you to buy direct from their website without knowing what your other options are, pricing options. Researching on your own is extremely confusing, and finding an insurance broker in Portugal is more than hit or miss as they usually only represent a few carriers. In the US insurance brokers are not allowed to consult with you on insurance in another country due to licensing issues.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My thought are that I would buy for a year or two an international health insurance from a company like BUPA. Once you have arrived in Portugal and have a better idea of what your requirements and what is available on the Portuguese market you can still select a local product through a local broker.

Hello @MrFitz, thank you for your reply. We do out best to provide the most up-to-date info and to update our guides as often as possible (especially for popular destinations like Portugal). However, I will be honest here and say it is simply not possible at this time for us to set up a news watch and update our members on changes as happen. However, I would suggest you create a thread on the forum where members of the Portugal forum could send updates as and when. What do you think?

@dhloggins22 there aren't that many insurances in Portugal. And most people go directly to the insurance supplier. Having a broker will always be more expensive as you will need to pay the middle man.
