Is there anyway to have home page open up with the newest posts listed first. Here when i come to the forum posts from years ago appear with posts a few minutes ago? A

I can't see what you are seeing, but what you wish to have happen, newest posts listed first, already does happen.
Assuming that your home page is /Forum/ South America/Ecuador the posts are already arranged chronologically, newest posts first. For pinned topics that appear above the posts you will see a circular pin icon just before the title of the thread. There are currently 7 of these pinned topics in the Ecuador forum.
If you click on the "last post" line below each thread title, you will always be taken to the last post, which is the newest post for that topic.
