GP Services around Kapparis area

Hello all - so yet another query from a soon to be (hopefully!) resident.

Our impending move is getting closer and about to start negotiations for a property in Kapparis.  We have our lawyers in place for our immigration processing, which will include the new medical checks (so hope these can be done in the Eastern area!).  Originally we were looking in the Paphos area but those plans have gone awry pfft.  But when I've been looking for health centre/GP services in the Kapparis area I'm only seeing availability in the Ayia Napa/Nicosia/Protaras areas.  I'm hoping there is somewhere more locally I can get registered with a GP as I need a few monthly repeat prescriptions.  We are arranging basic health insurance cover via our lawyer, so will this cover me for getting my prescriptions via one of the private clinics (without the need for actually seeing a GP?).  Also, if I do need GP services for any other ailments, would I again need to see a private clinic and be covered by the insurance?

I've been advised by the DWP that I have a transferable benefit - so in this case, does this mean that even though I will only have temporary residency, I may be able to get onto the GESY due to having a UK benefit transferred due to my health issues??

Sorry know this is a long and complicated one and I'm always that one person who's awkward when it comes to my medical issues lol :)  Thank you if you can help

Are you in receipt of state pension.... If so then you can get gesy via the form S1 from the UK DWP. If you are then cover via S1 will cover you and your spouse.....even If spouse is not on state pension ..

am not sure if transferable benefits give any eligibility.. maybe contact GESY and ask the question

Prescriptions outside of GESY are usually about €10 plus you then pay for the meds assuming they or their Cyprus equivalent is available. You cant usually get a prescription without seeing a gp.. however in my experience so far once you have history of meds with your choice of gp it's usually only a phone call or email to get a limited repeat prescription... And a once or twice a year check to assess progress or changes..

Maybe visit Kapparis areas cafes chemists bars etc and ask where the local clinic is or ask the locals if they have a visiting doctor as some do..

What about paralimni or famagusta

@Toon thanks @Toon - yes found the general hospital in Famagusta and another clinic in Protaras (which are about a 10 min drive from where we'll be).  I'm liaising currently with DWP about my disability benefit transferability although a couple of weeks ago I did get confirmation from them that it was transferable.  As yet we've got about another 11 or so years to go before we hit our pension age so it's private health insurance until we get our permanent residency but have got a basic plan in place via our lawyer once we land (but not sure if this covers me for my repeat meds....more question to ask when we get to this stage!)  I know in past visits, I've gone to the local pharmacy with a copy of my prescription if I've needed anything (normally my inhalers as I'm always losing them :)) and they've been ok to provide at a fee (which at the time was less that the UK prescription charge).

Yes chemists will fill a prescription but you will. Pay for the meds at inflated prices....gesy far cheaper by a long way
