Happy to hear that!

Yes, indeed it is!

2. How will the tax be calculated for this salary?? (include info abt tax rate and whether i have to pay "surtax" etc

It differs from case to case. it's normally around 32-36% of your salary. if you're an international employee (i guess you are!) then you will get 10% tax deduction every year! you'll get a tax claim form around April each year, and there, you can apply for this deduction. before that don't bother about anything.

3. i'll be moving with my wife and will the salary i said above be enough for us to live a normal happy life??

Yes! I think so! it's enough for a normal life and even some travels abroad every year! and about "HAPPY" life, then it depends on your mood, not on how much money you get! LOL!

4. how much NOK is needed monthly for food, bills, apartment, public transportation etc etc

It differs from person to person. it depends on how much you eat and the price/quality of food. but normally 3000-4000 NOK should be more than enough for 1 person for food only. bills (electricity, etc.) can be included in your rental or not! if not, then it will be mostly less than 1000 on average! summers are less, winters or more! between 200 to 800 maybe! public transportation within Oslo area will cost you maximum 590 NOK per month if you buy a monthly pass!

we are currently in sri lanka and live a normal life and normally not into alcohol/cigarette/beer.

Here, you can do the same! but if you needed to buy some, the best place is airport duty frees always!

many thanks in advance.

Thats right.
Guess you have to pay around 36% tax of your income.

Mostafa sam

oh 36% that's very much for example if someone take 1000 euros he will pay 360 euros taxes

Nope i have to get my own accommodation and food.

fl3

Hi

Yes 49400 is a good salary. I think naeem111 has post you about the things in tax and food.To get good place to stay in Oslo is cost you much around 9000 nok to 12000 nok and for food around 5000 nok for family  and it depends on how much you eat and the price and the quality of food. if you can prepair your own food in home like rice etc. you can mange to make less than that.Norway is good country to live but cost of living will be very high i think your salary is enough to have a enjoy life in Oslo

how about the clement ?

Hi Hiroshima,

Thanks a good deal dude, even though the taxes are a bit high but thats still a good one. The taxes in norway ranges between 32 - 42 percent but that depends on your earnings again and the tax slabs applied to you. I think the figure you've mentioned is pretty much for a family to live comfortably in Oslo. The expenses can be around 15k to 20k per month including apartment rent and other expenses.

apartments are little tricy to find so plan you trip in advance as you are moving with your family!! :)
