Single permit + Getting married with a Belgian citizen

Hello everyone,

I moved to Belgium on a single permit last September with my Belgian boyfriend. I'm thinking of switching jobs and have applied to a few positions.

  1. In my case where a new employer would have to apply for a new single permit for me, in your experience, how likely are they willing to do it? Is it an easier process as I'm already here?  When I was looking for jobs in Belgium from the US, it was quite difficult to find employers that are willing to sponsor.
  2. If I get married with my Belgian boyfriend, how soon will I be able to work/switch jobs under the new residence permit?

Sorry if I missed posts that already answer this question but I'd really appreciate your insights!

Thanks in advance.

1: if you are most welcome in the company they will do it and yes its much easier because you are here. It can take up to 1-3 months

2: as soon  as you get your F card you can work unlimited labor market. It can take more than 6 months. Please do research in this forum *family reunion*

My employer applied for a single permit on 9th of March. It is found admissible more than a month ago but I am still waiting for it. Next week 22nd of June I will also apply for family reunion on municipality of Tongeren. So does anyone know after I apply for it, how long does it take for me to start working with family reunion?

Thanks in advance.

The processing time for family reunion applications in Belgium varies from several weeks to months. It is advisable to check the official website or contact the Belgian immigration authorities for up-to-date information. Using the "MyRIA" online tracking tool can help monitor the application's progress. To expedite processing, gather all required documents and ensure accuracy. Applying well in advance is recommended to allow sufficient time for processing before planning a start date for working with your family in Belgium.
