Gun ownership in DR

Post new topic

GuestPoster1126

I just recently found the expat.com site as I am in the beginning stages of exploring what is involved with residing/living in both the GREAT State of South Carolina and the Dominican Republic. I restarted this topic for as I read many of the negative (against gun ownership) posts in the original subject, one thing seemed to be quite clear. That the negative posters seemed to lack historical knowledge of how firearms were used to the betterment of society. Also, how quite often after the first step by any government of requiring the REGISTRATION of firearms the governments had all the information they required to enact a CONFISCATION program. For we need not leave the island, so to speak, when looking for historical proof where the ownership and use of a firearm brought about the betterment of a nation.......

Rafael Trujillo, dictated and ruled the Dominican Republic for more than 30 years. He assumed near-absolute control of the Caribbean nation in 1930. Trujillo ordered heinous human rights abuses—including the torture and murder of thousands of civilians during his regin.

On May 30, 1961, Trujillo was ambushed in his car and gunned down by seven assassins.

Consider the history of the major countries whose rule was/is under Nazism, Communism, Fascism. How many MILLIONS of their citizens were SLAUGHTERED by governmental forces after firearm CONFISCATION became the law of the land!

Here I offer a few quotes by MEN that by divine inspiration CHANGED the future for all the FREE "Children of God":

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined..."

- George Washington

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."

- Thomas Jefferson

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

- Benjamin Franklin

"To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them."

- George Mason

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."

- William Pitt

Rocky,

seems you did not see my Hello post.

I’ve copied it below.

It should answer your bewilderment.

Hello to one and all at expat.com.

First I'd like to THANK YOU all for your time and effort on this!!!

Here's who I am and why I am interested:

My wife (we were married in the USA) was born in the DR and while having dual citizenship (before our marriage) also owns a home in the DR.

While I have visited numerous times over the past 10 years, I am considering citizenship and residing in DR for a greater period of time each year.

Christian, widowed twice, father of 8, USMC member "Semper Fi" to all my fellow Marines that may be part of the expat.com community!

Hunter (for food consumption and distribution - for any who are not aware of such programs - check it out THOUSANDS of needy families are provided meat. The distribution programs exist almost Coast-to-Coast in the USA).

Firearm owner and CCP (Concealed Carry Permit) owner across approximately 38 States.

While some might think "that's way too much info" I'd rather all who might be interested in responding to any of my questions / inquiries know whom they will be helping.

Have a blessed day!

Nope. Still "bewildered". And I am not interested in starting an argument about this. So, adios.

@jwrona1 Did you have a question?

We are not going to debate the DR’s gun ownership laws here. The vast majority of us are not DR citizens and are expressly banned from engaging in political commentary.

Hello everyone,

@jwrona1, welcome on board !

I, as one of the admins of the forums, have read your introduction post and still don't see the relevance of this thread.

Expat.com provides an open mutual aid forum for expats and expats-to-be so that they can share their experience, post questions and gather information to make their expatriation project/move a success.

If you have any legitimate questions pertaining to your move to DR, feel free to ask (formalities, areas, accommodation etc)

However, this topic is not related to Expatriation and I am closing it.

All the best on other threads and other topics.

I would also suggest that you read the Forum code of conduct for guidelines
