Does anyone have information on the AGE Limit to obtain car insurance in Portugal.  We are both over the age of 75, but want to own a car in the country to be independent.

Thanks,

I don't believe there's an age limit in Portugal either to own a car, drive it, or insure it. I'm 74. The rates may be a bit higher and you'll need to renew your licenses (with medical certification) every two years.

@rwe42ue47 in Portugal the insurance is for the car, not the owner, so the age has nothing to do with the insurance.

I sell insurances and there's no age limits

Hi, are you sure car insurance has nothing to do with age?  it is for the driver to be insured and the car, so age does come as part of the reason for being higher or lower rates.  i was told by a broker.

There are no age limits for taking out insurance. BUT the older the driver, the more expensive is the insurance policy....

The cost of insurance also depends on where it is parked, and the area you live in.

There are many factor that influence the price for car insurance. It is definitely worth getting offers from different companies and to review the insurance every year. Insurances don't value faithfulness and even though the value of your car degrades, the premium might stay the same of go up. So, always compare.
