        Why would any sane individual wish to invest in any type of business in one of the most opaque corrupt emerging markets in the world.     -@Lotus EaterMany invest in the very corrupt USA...  big_smile.pngThere are much better potentials in Phils when knowing how...         -@coach53

Oh really Coach? Lets see now. America's share of the world's stockmarket capitalisation now stands at 61% and yet Uncle Sam accounts for about 25% of global GDP. Are you saying that you know better than worldwide fund managers and asset managers such as Vanguard and BlackRock the two largest in the world? Why not share your omnipotent investment knowledge on this Forum and give us hard evidence i.e facts of investment returns you have made hitherto in the Philippines rather than pumping out hot air.

EASY to beat most of these "specialists". in a test most got beaten by a monkey throwing darts 1f923.svg

I even predicted and PUBLISHED WARNINGS concerning two of the last 4 big stock market FALLS 5 and 7 months before they happened, and told a CEO in an investment company - who didnt listen  :)  One of the other falls I didnt see coming, but that was during I didnt check the stock markets because I were occupied with selling my 70 employees business and starting an other.  The fall 2007-08 I didnt see coming, I didnt believe big investing managers could be that STUPID  :)  and the US government control could be such crap...!

(E g I earned 267 and 174 percent per YEAR at the capital I used at stock market back when I went in again after one of these by me predicted falls had calmed down.)

I havent checked exact them you mensioned, because I skiped "western" stock markets after such guys 2007-08 MADE the economic world crisis and US government REWARDED these scammers/idiots and none were put in jail!!!  Thats to much crap, so I skiped it inspite of I GAINED 44 % at my shares during theese 5 months when almost all FELL very much...

Then I changed my focus first to Thailand, but changed to Philippines when I noticed Phils allow foreigners to do much more than in Thailand.  First I did spend years at studying Phils laws and research which business ideas suit to start there.

Since I skiped this forum, because moderators PROTECT LIARS as you, I have started two businesses in Phils and were close to buy a third business type recently, but that one hadnt documents in order, so I skiped it.

The first started is SIMPLE to do -when knowing what and how :)    Market fluctuate much but profit will be at least 3 times the investment, possible 8 times, in around 6 years. Not hard to solve, but take time to correct the big mess earlier owner made, My second business is complicated so its a gamble to try to do without being there, but if manage to reach export volumes and quality then that will be good earning even at start volume. Manufactory building and space are prepared so it can manage 5 times the start volume. That one take some time too, because we grow the raw material to that one ourself to get control over access and quality, by that saving transport costs too.

But of course I dont tell what businesses are interesting to liars as you and them, who are so stupid so they support such liars:D

Yes good Idea go away and you keep away, take coach53 with you.

Concerning air  - I forgot to tell - beside the scamming/idiot handling they made the 2007-08 world crisis with -

a big part of the US stock market is just baloon air    1f923.svg

because many there make decisions based ONLY at TA, many cant do a proper FA if they even know what that is.

FA = REAL value.

TA = ONLY check at trade prices and volumes, so they make their decisions only based at what other idiots pay!  1f923.svg

There are TA idiots in other western countries too, but USA got extra many by many without knowledge started buying when they got forced to be home at daytime AND got the "covid payout" which to many used to put in at the US stock market, which made CRAZY effects, which can be seen at how Nasdaq index changed by that...

This have made laughable P/E values...

PERHAPS there are some shares worth the money still at US stock market, but so few so I dont find it worth looking.

Instead I prefer to buy things for less than the value :) as there are some in Phils, where many owners ASK LOWER price than the value, so when I bought I didnt even try to haggle.

Which means that is a matter of public record. Lets see them. Date stamped and verified please.

Coach how do you like your bananas?

bigpearl

Bananas and sweeeeedish meatballs aside I have been running my retirement business here for well over 5 years and loving it, don't lift a finger aside from monitoring my portfolio, passive income from Australia where my funds are safe and I know the system there.

We have looked at businesses here and after number crunching give a 5/6% ROI and a 60 hour working week, better to put your money into solar or the stock market that gives you a far higher return and no need to work your tits off. My investments in my superannuation earn on average 10% and not taxable, my earnings from that would put me into around a 37% + tax bracket if derived from a business or employment,,,,, the winner.

The biggest winner is the investment in solar and ROI is @ 17/18% and again not taxable, the sun does the work and I simply monitor, give me retirement any day instead of fussing with 40 permits, potential palm greasing then management,,,,,,, been there for 40 years. Quiet time now.

Cheers, Steve.

How about Surströmming?

bigpearl

I yearn for a lamb chop to throw on the BBQ or a decent rib eye fillet and not fermented herrings or stinky shrimp paste,,,, Balut comes next.

Cheers, Steve.

sweeeeedish meatballs

Steve do you remember the Swedish chef on the Muppet show? Who does he remind you of🤣

bigpearl

LOL.

A 70 odd year old dude that likes stirring the pot and is always right, forgets the seasoning.

Don't worry we have the Sweeedish chef on another expat site and the cooking skills leave a lot to be desired.

Cheers Steve.

@JustCallMeJoe I used to own businesses here in the Philippines as a foreigner, and the last one was a fully foreign owned company. However, they all failed, I guess because I am not knowledgeable about the local market. For example, I opened a tea shop, but found out even Chinese Filipinos here do not drink real good Chinese tea, so they were not willing to pay the price of the good teas that I imported from China at prices that would give me a profit. Later, I founded a web development company that built several websites, including one that was meant to pool and share information in a neighborhood. But the size of the neighborhood was too small to attract enough advertisers to make the business work, and restaurants and establishments preferred to advertise directly with Facebook and Google. So, another fail. Now I just do online stock stuff.

One of my former employees worked for a company called Asia Merger and Acquisition Links Inc. Maybe they have a list of companies you could look at.

yiqipo

as regards grocery wholesale business, I am sure there are many. During COVID, these suppliers drove around BGC, my area, to deliver to individual households since restaurants were forced to close. They may even have something similar to Indonesia's Gudangada.com, but also probably not as efficient. So yeah, it is not an empty field, but newcomers can always try, if you can be more nimble and efficient.

@yiqipo

You mentioned in your post:

For example, I opened a tea shop, but found out even Chinese Filipinos here do not drink real good Chinese tea, so they were not willing to pay the price of the good teas that I imported from China at prices that would give me a profit.

I would be selling stuff in the Philippines that the locals and tourists in the Philippines would be buying.  Market research and Marketing can help. I think that whatever is selling in another country does not mean it would sell in the Philippines.

It was in public stock market discussions rouchly 35 and 25 years ago. Do you believe private companies save texts that long time? 1f923.svg

((2007 I missed to predict. I didnt expect "experts" could be that stupid. But I gained almost 50 percent during that fall anyway.))

. .

What more stupid have you guys to say?  :D

Lotus Eater

@coach53

That took you a long time to answer. Did you have a relapse?

bigpearl

It's like a bad smell, keeps coming back.

Cheers, Steve.
