Registration at city hall

Yusuf53

Hello

I just arrived in Brussels (August 1, 2023) last week. I am staying in an Airbnb house for a week. I agreed with my employer to begin working on August 25, 2023. But I am still looking for a place to stay permanently. And City Hall gave me an appointment for September 19, 2023, for registration. Can I start working on the agreed date (August 25, 2023)? ( I am non europian)

I have same situation. Arrived Belgium 11th Aug with my family. Staying at an Airbnb. Went to the commune to register but they said i need a permanent accommodation.  The consultant engaged by my employer confirmed to my employer that i cannot work until i get my annex 49. I was to resume 15th Aug but my employer had to move the date to Sep 1st. Currently looking for a permanent accomodation. My employer is also considering moving my start date of 1st Sep forward because they doubt i will be able to get an accommodation and get annex 49 before 1st Sep.

Its so frustrating because i keep getting info from other people that they started working without annex 49. But the consultants insist that i need annex 49 to start work.

legally speaking, they're right, you must have your annex 49 to start working.

Now, some company can ignore the law at their (and yours) own risk.

@opsin29 I was also told I need annex 49 to start work.

But I was hoping that the commune will agree to give the annex based on a temporary address (such as an airbnb). But apparently they didn't agree on this, @opsin29?
