Our D7 appointment is Sept 22, 2023 in SFO.

We will keep our passports as we are headed to Portugal Oct 17 - Nov 21.

If our D7 applications are approved before Oct 17, or later

How much time do we have to mail in our passports?

I don't think there's any problem there.  Your expected arrival date, for the resident visa, will be some later date, right?  They'll email you when they're ready for the passports, and at that time you can talk to them about what's going on, they're OK.  That's more likely to be January than November.

I spoke with the Portuguese Embassy in New York City yesterday and was told they are now taking a minimum of 60 "business Days" to process a D7 VISA.  I agree with the above person that it most likely will be January before you hear.  Good luck!!

@maxwmitchell1997 hopefully not that long!

That will be for me 7 months waiting!

maxwmitchell1997

7 months?  Where did you apply?  Where did you go for your D7 interview?

mariacmorenovarela

@maxwmitchell1997 no, 7 months if as you said,they are responding in January!

I went to Washington DC on June,

I just passed the 60 days waiting period last week.

No, they might respond to philipbarnes1962 in January, after he applies late September.  It's technically possible that they'd get back to him in November, which is what he's worried about, but not if it's 60 days minimum, and the way things are, I wouldn't expect anyone to get close to that minimum.  Really it's quite unpredictable.

Yours could come in any time, though likely still weeks away.
