S Pass/E Pass salary update to MOM rejected and appealed

Post new topic

Hi, my salary update rejected by MOM. Reason- substantial increase. Company has provided an appeal with justification letter for the salary increase. More than a month and still waiting after appeal. Has anybody went through similar situation? Any view how long the appeal can take?

This is very much a case when there is a huge increment in percentage term.  Employer did right  thing by providing the justification but MoM can analyse it and accept or reject.

In your case, its pending for a month now. Your employer can reach out MoM to find out the outcome. Good luck

Does "salary update" mean you were already working at the company and just received a pay rise, of which the employer then notifies MoM?

I have never heard that such an information would be rejected - and I don't even believe a pay rise must be announced or approved. What did MoM ask the employer to do? Downgrade you back to the previous pay?

@beppi Working with same employer. Since the pay rise cross Dependant pass eligibility, Employer need to update revised salary with MOM and get approval. For my case, it was rejected by MOM mentioning' substanstial increase'. So company give justification appeal and now one month +. After 3 weeks already request the status with MOM. Still no news. Eagerly waiting. Once this one is approved, then only can apply for DP. Anyone go through similar situations.

@beppi MOM ask employer to update the salary in next pass renewal.

MoM is updated during renewal process or DP approval process. MoM does see as an issue that why an employer will have to adjust salary much higher for DP eligibility. Also checks based on market value and experiences.  So, if employer provides valid rationale then i think MoM should accept.  So, ask your employer to reach MoM and find the reason its pending for a month. If MoM needs more info then employer can submit.

Mine got increase of more than 10% (performance based and promotion). EP renewal got approved in just 6 working days. My employer is well established so we did not have any problems at all.

Based on other inputs on this website, renewal will be rejected due to significant increase if your employer's profit has been inconsistent or not high enough to pay high salaries, and your qualification (university is not accredited/well-known or experience is not enough) is insufficient.
