Getting a D7 permit when your spouse has a work permit and vice versa?

Does anyone know if there is any reason why this can't be done? As you can apply for the D7 as an individual I can't see why not, but just checking

They are different types of visa, one does not depend on the other. There is no relationship between these visas. The D7 visa is a passive income visa.

However, each spouse can apply for different visas.

In the case of the D7, if you can prove that you and your spouse have sufficient passive income for both, you can apply for a joint D7 visa. Then, with the residence permit, one or both of you can get a work.
