Hello Kevin,

Where is the car coming from, UK or Japan, there are different requirements for each.

Do you have SVA test (cars from Japan, not needed for UK cars) and MOT yet?

You will need insurance.

If UK car you will need valid HPI check to show car is not stolen, UK cars require more checks and takes longer than those from Japan.

Plus all documents from customs etc used in importing the car.

It is a lot easy if you get an agent or somebody who has done this before to fix this for you.

Hi Graham6

Many thanks for your reply

The car is from uk its fully insured in Cyprus and has an mot ( Cyprus)

I have an agent if necessary but was thinking it might be worth having a try myself?

When did the car arrive from the UK? I have mine still on temp import since the 20th Dec 2022 and still going to Paphos customs each month to extend the temp import.

Hi

March 2023

Renewed every two months

Delay was pink slip but now all sorted

I will try and register it tomorrow seems simple enough

My agent who dealt with it has disappeared so will see!

Limassol sent me a list of documents required

graham6

I thought you only allowed 6 months, but okay see not

graham6

Guess you are using change of residence from UK to Cyprus, so rules a little different from just importing when already resident in Cyprus

kevinlewis2323

Good evening

Well an eventful day

All final paperwork was given by customs

(They have been fantastic and extremely helpful)

Went to TOR in Limassol again very friendly and helpful even joked about stuff

Took my papers and they will call on Monday so I can go and get registration documents and tax etc.

Feel its been a good productive day

I think I might be at last getting used to the " Cyprus " way !!

Well done

@KevinLewis glad to hear you are all done now. I have the letter from customs confirming import clearance without duty or VAT. I now need to move forward and was told I need the C72 to get the MOT done. This apparently is electronic and not a form. Where and how did you get the C72 done? Did customer put that in or someone else?

After the MOT I can go to Transport Dept and get the registration done then new plates I presume.

@phildraper

Hi

OK I got the C72 completed at the port by an agent.

I collected my letter directly from customs at the port and used the agent who originally helped me with the import.

I think he charged 50 euro for the process which is done online

His name is Stelios ****

The mot is totally separate as I got that on the day I picked the car up from the docks as you know the car was being used for a few months before get duty clearance ( I thought you needed that to use the car legally in Cyprus)

Only then go to your local TOR office. ( i used limassol so your process might be different in paphos)

Not sure what shipping agent you used but they will help )

Thanks

Well, it took me 13 months to get my plates, and even at the very long end of it all the clearing agent got one digit wrong on my vin no.  or chassis number? which made the code for transport invalid, he charged me €60 and still got it wrong. So we went to see Mr. David at the transport office and he said "give me your documents" he found the problem there and then, he rang a guy who came to the transport office to do what the clearing agent was supposed to do and gave us a new code.

We then went back to the cashier for another long wait but this time everything was okay.

I paid €165 goodness knows for what and then went across the road for plates @ €20. Then we thought that was it,  no, had to tax the car then someone said "Now don't forget to tax your car" another €65. That's it my car is more Cypriot than I am,  what a palaver.

Thats quite cheap it can cost €1000's in other countries.

timhuntington

Oh,  I've paid at least another £2k on top of that having the car imported.
