Another Halong Bay Cruise..Yawn

James Liu

I love Ha Long Bay, but I have been there too many times. Every time relatives or friends come from abroad, we do the obligatory tour of Hanoi and day cruise in Ha Long Bay. In December, two really close buddies are coming to Vietnam and I'm taking them up to Hanoi for a few days. Thinking of something different for Ha Long Bay. Perhaps a 2 nights and 3 day cruise. They love swimming and I don't want to do the same day tour of caves (yes, I notice that phallic looking rock formation Mr. tour guide), boring lunch buffet, and long drive back to Hanoi. I am looking for a decent 2 night cruise with a lot of swimming. Any recommendation based on experience? And which cruise company to go with? Thank you very much.

You could take a quick look through our "Tourism" directory. Perhaps you could arrange to start/complete your boat tour from Hanoi (?), avoiding that return drive. Tourism/Hanoi (Link)
