Hello,

I am an EU / US dual citizen planning to retire to Spain with my wife in the future.

We plan to reside in Spain permanently on retirement and not pay into the US Medicare system. I will therefore not being returning to the US for LTC /Nursing home care when I am no longer able to care for myself in my home.

I am interested in knowing the cost of Long Term Care / Nursing home care in Spain and how people prepare and save for it.

I know the Spanish have a long tradition of caring for their parents at home for as long as possible. This will not be an option for me.

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Conor

Thanks

The cost of long-term care in Spain varies, but it's generally more affordable than in the US. Consider private health insurance, savings, investments, and long-term care insurance to prepare financially. Consult a financial advisor, explore Spanish social services, and understand how your pension plans can cover expenses. Stay updated on laws and regulations to make informed decisions.
