I use several online shops, but mostly Jakartanotebook.com and, over this last few months, Shopee.
The former has been great, the last package arrived this morning when I only ordered yesterday.
Some of the stuff I've ordered over the years has been duff, but that's pretty rare and, in fairness, when something is that cheap you should expect the odd useless item. However, even most of the cheap stuff has worked perfectly.
I'm still using crazy cheap stuff I ordered year ago.
I'm amazed, but there it is.
Shopee is next on the list.
When you get a good shop, it's a great platform but, when you get a bad shop, it's a pain in the bottom.
I've had both - but far too many bad ones of late so I think I'm done with them for a while.
Mosty it's been poorly described product that simply isn't what it claims, or has a different specification when it turns up. A couple of times it's just been the wrong thing, and this time one item arrived when it should have been 2. One simply didn't work at all. No quality testing.
It's hardly worth the complaint for small amounts, but the number of issues has gone too far so I will back off from them.
I think the biggest was a shop claiming to see a particular radio I want. He's shown as in my area so I said I would collect and pay cash - Not allowed. The thing is cheap for its type so I'm guessing it's a scam. No small businessman in this wide world turns down saving the posting and cash in hand.
To be fair to shopee, their complaints system works and the advertised but out of stock stuff was refunded quickly, but the fact it was out of stock was a time waster.
You have to reorder from another shop, then watch for the refund. It's hardly worth it for small amounts.
It's not shopee, it's some duff shops on there.
However, the regular messing about with bad shops has made me reconsider the platform's worth.
I tried Tokopedia for an item I can't find anywhere else.
One took the order, cancelled, then told me to order again at a far higher price.
I told him to offski.
The next took the order then told me they were out of stock.
Refunds were quick, but the start with Tokopedia is a bit on the rough side.
I just checked the first shop again - The price is back to when I first ordered it.
Looks like a ripoff shop trying to screw customers.
To be clear - None of this is caused by Tokopedia, but the two shops I tried were pretty much rubbish.
I use a Indonesian name and take care the way they explain things as way we say it tells thrm we are bule

I just tell rip off arts to stick it up their arses. Getting the stuff may take a little longer, but I'm not feeding a thief.
The last two orders were both scammers.
I did unboxing videos so they were a nuisance rather than more, but I will delete shopee as soon as I get the refunds.
The platform isn't for me, and I suggest posters are extremely careful if you use it as there are far too many crap shops on it.
I'm always looking at the ratings of the shop before I order on Shoppee!!! There was one time I ordered shoes, the seller writes me to tell me they don't have the style, but have a totally different style... Asked me if I wanted to cancel, I say yes, sends them anyways (mind you, I spoke all in Bahasa... So I knew they understood) I said why did you send, I said cancel, they said just return them if you don't like them.what!?!? And pay extra for shipping back and waiting on refund??? No thank you!! Never bought from them again ... Then I noticed a lot of the clothing is crappy ... Far compared from well made clothing from America!!! And yes, alot of things are very cheaply made on there... But work when you're on a tight budget...
I can't be bothered sorting out the scammers.
I have deleted the app but will use the Web version to identify local suppliers.
Once I have an address, I will visit in person.
Cheap stuff is less important, but my next couple of buys will be well above 10 million.
I'm not risking a shopee based scammer with that sort of cash.

When asked my name upon ordering, I tell them it's Mr. Bule.
I inform them I'm a little deaf so they will have to shout it loudly.
I have just made two orders with jakartanotebook.com- the first arrived in perfect condition a day after ordering
The second has just been paid for and it's due on Tuesday.
For tech bits and bobs, and a lot more, I have never found anywhere better.
That shop has never let me down in many years of using them.
Update.
I started to use Shopee and Tokopedia again for small items.
Pretty much a was well as you can't really expect that much from cheap end stuff, so I got what I paid for. There has been a tablet stylus that does pretty much what the advert claims, but misses out on its drawbacks. However, for 80k, I'll skip moaning and just accept it as a calculated loss.
Like a fool, I saw an item I really fancied that was a more of a serious purchase. Sadly, the thing is duff but Shopee look a lot like they will side with the seller.
It's a bit of a pity as the advert is very clear in its claims, and the item simply doesn't comply with the ad.
That, regardless of the final outcome of the dispute, finishes me with Shopee as it's just not worth the hassle.
However, Jakartanotebook.com have never let me down in the slightest way - That's my only place for online shopping from now on.
Trust is important.
