Exit from Bahrain when my Work Visa is on Old passport

Recently I got my passport renewed and embassy stamped "Cancelled" on my old passport.

Now I want to travel to my home country due to some emergency.

Do I have to first update my Residency permit to new passport?

Or I can take both passports to airport and they will allow me to go to my home country?

If first I have to update my residency permit with new passport number. How can I do this?

I don't want to involve my Company or HR. Because they are too lazy and can take months for this.
