The Zello app is available for iphone and Android (I think PC as well). It turns your phone into a walkie talkie that doesn't need any sort of license as it uses mobile data or wifi. It's worldwide and you can set up any groups you fancy.

I've been using it to connect with amateur radio groups, but I've expanded into others as well.

If I may request, please. Replies to this thread should not:

  • include groups that rival expat.com in any way
  • promote prostitution, drugs, or other nasties
  • contain pornography or anything else kids would be better not seeing or hearing

One of the first groups I discovered was gb7ab.

This is an amateur radio group based in the UK but has worldwide users.

It links into amateur repeaters so callsigns should be used and usual amateur protocols stuck to.

If you want to join this group, send me a PM with your callsign and I'll tell you the password.

CB users might like 27.2850 and dundee cb radio.

Both of these link to UK CB channels so you end up on air. I don't know what CB guildlines are like in the UK now, but stick to polite and I'm sure all will be well.

You can add groups by name but it has to be typed exactly
