Hi all,

Newbie on the Chile forum? Don't know how to start?

This thread is for you ;)

We invite you to introduce yourself on this topic, to share with us your expat story if you are already living in the country,
or to tell us more on your expat projects in Chile if you are planning to move there.

It will enable us to help you better but above all to wish you a warm welcome.

Welcome on board!

fleurcareil

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently living in Toronto, Canada and am looking to move to southern Chile to start a new career in conservation management and have therefore applied for a temporary visa under the rentista category. On the SMN portal, my application has been in the "analysis" stage for over 6 weeks, however I am unable to find information on how long the application process is expected to take. As most websites (including those of Chilean consulates!) haven't updated their information yet after the immigration law changed in 2022, I have currently no indication whatsoever how long it may take.

If anyone on this forum has applied for a temporary visa under the new immigration online system, I'm curious to hear how long it took for the application to be analysed and moved to the next "resolution" stage.

cheers,

Fleur

Hi everyone! I'm thrilled to have found this forum! You may call me Elenitita.

I'm hoping to move to Chile this year! My long distance partner of 6 years is Chilean, and we're finally closing the distance.

I have visited beautiful Chile twice now, a combined total of 6 months, and I am in love with the place. I'm ecstatic to begin this process of moving, and I look forward to being a part of this forum!

Hi, I currently work in Singapore as a nanny and a house helper. I am looking forward to an employer willing to hire me in Chile. I want to experience a new environment, and I have paid experience taking care of kids for almost ten years.

Junah

Hi Everyone,

I'm Juna, I am currently living in the Philippines. I've been wanting to start my new career in Chile. I've finished a degree in Community Development. I'm currently working as a full time saleslady and also doing freelance at night. Is there anyway to get a job offer even though it's not related to my experiences? I'm currently learning Spanish. Thank You.😊

@Bhavna Thank you so much! 1f60a.svg

@Junah   I'm not telling you to give up your dream - but to be honest, it will be very difficult to get a good job in Chile unless you have skills that are in high demand and you also speak good Spanish.
