Hi,

The Brazilian government has again postponed the visa requirements for Canadians and others (I think).

I guess GlobalVFS couldn't get their act together (someone told me that VFS stands for "vai foder se", what ever that means).

I had a visa application in process and already paid $80USD.  Does anyone know if this fee will be refunded?

As I used to tell my teams during my Supply Chain days, you don't always get what you ask for, but you almost never get what you don't ask for.  So, if you want a refund, don't wait around hoping for it, ask for it.

If you applied directly to the Consulate you probably won't get it back, but they may still process your visa when their system is finally up and running.  If you applied through a third party agent, they may give you your refund, just to get the liability off their books and maintain you as a satisfied customer in the future.

GlobalVFS us an international company that handles Visa applications for many countries. Tourist Visas for Brazil are not issued directly from the embassies as far as I can tell.

It is impossible to get anyone on the phone. I tried emailing but no response.

There must be hundreds if not thousands of people in the same boat ad me.

One option is to file a fraud coming with my Credit Card - they took my money but rid not provide thr promised oroduct.

Or just shrug and say, "Não é surpresa, este é o Brasil!."

@Drjmagic If you paid with a credit card you can get a  refund no problem. They are almost always on the side of the consumer.

Bom Dia,

Digital tourist visa for American citizens postponed to April 10, 2024 according to American Airlines travel web site.

@KenAquarius, I just checked the status of the e-visa and it's still in "pending" status.  I am tempted to call my credit card company and cancel the application fee.

The question here is:  I am planning on going back later on and I will need to apply for the e-visa later.  Will canceling this transaction have a negative effect on the next possible transaction?  I suspect no but I would like to get some feedback from people who are more familiar with the Brazil system....

Thank you.

According to the Consulate websites, requesting a "regular" VIVIS visa at a Consulate is always an option.  In fact, they suggest that if the request for an eVisa is rejected for some reason, the applicant request a regular visa directly from the Consulate.  That goes through the E-Consular system, not the third party eVisa system.  The instructions are about halfway down this page from the Toronto Consulate website; be sure to select "Visa" rather than "eVisa" on the form:

https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/consulado- … sitor-visa

For US citizens, the instructions are a little more straightforward on the Chicago Consulate site; be sure to check the site of the Consulate responsible for your state:

@Pablo888If you do plan on going back at a later date l would just let it ride for now. Im guessing they will get it sorted out eventually .

Pablo888

@KenAquarius - letting it ride was the right call.  Yesterday, I received a no-reply email from VFS global that my case has now been submitted to the consulate.  I guess it took that long to do a check of my submission before forwarding to the consulate.

Paciência e perseverança.

@Pablo888 I have used the Brazilian Consulates in the USA in 3 different states.  l got good service from all of them.

Uma surpresa completa - my e-visa appeared in my email.  It is valid for 10 years of back and forth to Brazil....

Still waiting for my wife's but things are progressing.....1f60a.svg

Congratulations!  One more example of why we can never say "never" in Brazil.

I arrived to Brazil in late October with a passport. I'd like to stay an additional 90 days and planning to get married with my Brazilian partner. Do I need to apply for evisa only to maintain being here legally or do I also need to request an extension from the federal police ?

KenAquarius

@Pablo888 well you know the old saying ”when the going gets tough the Brazilians….” hell they probably go to the beach

Thankfully the visa requirement was delayed, because while I was in the departure gate waiting to board my flight, my e-visa came in via email. Had the requirement been in place, I wouldn't have been allowed to check in and the visa would have come to me in a taxi going home from the airport.

Pablo, you say you got an e-visa valid for 10 years? Mine is only valid for 5 years. Anyone else get an e-visa recently?
