Hey All

I have a flat in Sofia which is located on the ground floor in a large block of flats. I only visit a couple of times a year. Unfortunately, someone has dumped a large amount of rubbish in the basement and the smell is coming up through floor. The stink in the lounge is unbearable!

Does anyone know of a good rubbish removal contractor that they could recommend?

I have taken this up with the person who deals with the management of the block but they are not interested. Going to have to take this one into my own hands!

Many thanks

Ugh! I don't know of anyone, but am commenting to bump your post in the hope someone who can answer sees it. Also, if you can, try editing your post to put Sofia in the title. It will help the right people see it.

Have you tried simply telling the entrance/block manager that you won't be paying for any services until the problem is addressed?

In any event, you should see plenty of Cellar Clearance (почистване на мазето) notices on lampposts etc locally.

Or Google, there are loads of firms out there.

The block manager doesn't want to know. She wants us to write to all of the Tenants in the flat (over 20 of them) to ask for it to be removed.

It's just a lot of hassle to do that and I doubt that the person who has been putting the rubbish there will just own up.

How much is there and what is it? If it's smallish stuff it can be bagged and put into the communal bins but if it's smelling then it sounds like it's good waste of similar and possibly a health hazard.

It's down to her to get it organised and bill all the tenants for the cost, which hopefully will turn up someone who knows who the culprit is. If you let her shirk the responsibilities she took on it'll just continue or get worse, and likewise if the culprit gets away with it. It doesn't sound as though your neighbours are ones that I'd fancy having....maybe time to sell up and find a better block?
