Apartments and rooms for rent in Mexico

racinkc1

How much can I realistically get an apartment in Mexico or Mexico City for? Are they really going for 300 plus dollars a month? In Thailand, I had a very nice apartment for around a 100 usd a month, and lots of infrastructure and low crime around me. Can I do this in Mexico too? Im just not seeing a lot of housing being offered online like there is in Chiang Mai Thailand. I am open to renting a room but would prefer an apartment. I am US citizen so it makes sense to go to Mexico for me.

Doesn't sound like you meet residency requirements. You are required to have a curp which you only get thru residents status to have a legal lease.  You understand that Mexico has started to not give 6 months vacation visa over and over. To stop illegal residents IE perm vacationers.  Just giving you information.

@MexicoAfterlife Im not sure why I would need residency if Im just staying the duration I am allowed to by law. I guess they expect me to stay in hotels for up to 6 months? Wow, thats kinda disappointing.

Hi I would do more research before you accepted this post!

If you live in an area with locals, not expats, not near beach it could be doable. I doubt you will find such a place on line, You will need to go to place you want to live or explore, maybe stay in hotel or airbnb for first couple or 3 weeks while you look for something by walking the neighborhood. You may see a place with a sign renta or disponible. It is best if you speak Spanish when making a call, or get a Spanish speaking person to call on your behalf and call from a Mexican phone. If you call speaking English the price could change to higher price.
