Banking. Declaration of business

Post new topic

annamayking19

Does a declaration of business need to be stamped and approved by a lawyer? Bank is now asking for this to open account.

planner

Sorry I don't know what that document is. Is there a different name for it?

annamayking19

I am lost. My boyfriend is trying so hard to open an account. This is ridiculous. Apparently they need a declaration of business. No clue.

planner

Again what is that in Spanish?  Is it a Dominican company or foreign company?  I have never heard this term here.

annamayking19

He spoke English. Canadian company

planner

Ok again i do not know how a canadian corp  assist you  in opening a corporate bank account or personal acount here.  So once done, let us know!

annamayking19

I am going in march so I will try to open my own personal account. What documents are needed for that again??

planner

Letter of reference from your bank.   Maybe last 3 month statements.  Reference letter from someone who banks there and  YOUR PASSPORT  with stamp with less than  30 days,  other confirming ID.  Should be sufficient.

annamayking19

Do they need to be stamped by notorary ?

planner

Not normally no.

Is this DNC number and documents you have to file with DRctax folk is that what they are talking about?

Like the LLC in the states?

Not sure...

planner

Corp docs outside of here should have no bearing on bank accounts here unless registered to do business here.  So @christopher I don't understand why they are being asked for or what they actually are.

annamayking19

My boyfriend is trying to just open a simple personal account. Here in Canada he works for himself. He contracts himself out to a company and doesn't paving. He has provided them with his registered business certificate. Passport. Bank account personal and business 3 months of statements

annamayking19

Now they asked for some declaration of business. Thinking it may be a letter from himself outlining his business.

planner

It's a personal account. Ok. So maybe trying to establish his income.  Why not supply tax returns?  Has he been here less than 30 days?

CHRISTOPHER DAVID56

@planner makes sense just thinking of reasons. As you mentioned who knows why they ask for information as we all know the next day and new person...theres a new requirements....:)

planner

So true.  Some things are universal and others not so much!

Hello

I have an idea.   He shoujld provide his 2022 Federal tax return, assuming he filed his taxes to Canadian government.   Once they review you get the NOA (notice of assessment) from Government of Canada. This gives proof of income, real work, deductions, etc. who  you are and what you do in Canada.

In my understanding, banks here are trying to make sure you are legit and do not open accounts here to launder money obtained from illegal activities.

Since the 2023 tax forms do not need to be submitted until April 30 of this year, 2022 would be the last tax form Canada government has on file from you.

Hope this helps.

I think planner already said this.  I missed it earlier.
