Self sponsor housemaid

Post new topic

Expat222

Hi

I am an expat employee living here with my husband and 2 kids. I wanted to hire a housemaid from india under my sponsorship. In the visa service portal it is mentioned as minimum monthly salary of 1000BD is required to sponsor a housemaid. My husband’s and my salary separately is below 1000BD.

Can we consider the cumulative (total) salary of both of us inorder to sponsor housemaid visa?

Also please mention the charges for this visa application.

Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

If you go here and look at the application form, it actually has a clearly mentioned check box "add wife's salary?".   All other details are also listed there.

@XTang thank you so much for your immediate response..

Expat222

@XTang hi, shall i ask you one more thing. As my husband’s visa is expiring next month, can i sponsor the maid? In that case, since husband’s salary is also added for application, will his visa expiry affect the maid visa approval?

XTang

Visa has to be valid when application is lodged.  If they tell you to renew his visa before applying, then go and do that first.   I have never been asked to do so in similar situations but you never know, rules change here everyday.

Expat222

@XTang Ok I understood. Thank you for the valuable information.

Expat forum had always helped me with many doubts while living here.

@XTang where on site is sponsorship form for home staff? The link here gave ab

N error for me

XTang

Nowhere as it is not related to self sponsorship.  You have to apply normally for a domestic new permit.

Yes self sponsorship visa holders can sponsor a maid.  For income requirements, you need to check with LMRA  as I am not sure for self sponsorship but it would definitely be above 500 BD or 1000 BD.  I have a maid and I provided my Saudi income details which were fine for this. No one will tell you whether a nationality is allowed or not - that is never disclosed.  There is nothing official banning a particular nationality.  The only way to know is to apply.

@XTang

Thank you for your response. My income from rental is over BD1,000 from property in UAE. Further since am expatriate do we have to pay additional monthly charges to Bahrain government for keeping foreign house maid like we do in UAE?

XTang

No monthly charges.  Just a deposit of 500 BD, on top of visa fees, which is refundable when the maid leaves - it is similar to UAE but lower.

Thank you so much for your kind information
