Temporary residence vs Permanent job

Hi All!


My friend from Ukraine has a Czech temporary residence permit valid until Feb 2025. Recently she applied for a permanent job in Prague and the company told her that they won't be able to offer her a permanent job because her residence permit expires in 12 months (and they don't have a guarantee that it will be extended). They offer her a 12 month contract instead.


I dont live in Czechia, so I don't know, but maybe you could help. (1) Is the company right saying that they cannot offfer her a perm job because she has temp residence? What is your experience with other companies? (2) We are afraid that if my friend accept a 12 month contract, she will have difficulties extending her permit by the end of the year (since the immigration officer will see that her employment comes to an end soon). What do you think?
