Hi,

I am a USA Citizen going to Europe on an extended slow travel trip. I will be in the Schengen area and outside (in Albania and Morocco).

The issue is the 90 day out of 180 day rule that I don't understand.

If I spend 30 days in Schengen and then 30 days out, then 30 days in, then 30 days out, then 30 days in , then 30 days out; the question is ???

When is the 180 days up?

Is it counted from the last entry date?

Is it counted from the first entry date?

How does it accumulate both 'in area' days and 'out of area' days?

Is it a sliding window of 180 days, starting WHEN?

I don't want to overstay in Schengen but I want to travel at least 8-9 months. Both in and out of Schengen.
