Crafting in Canada

Hello everyone,

Discovering and participating in the artisan culture  in Canada  is an opportunity not only to enrich your personal knowledge, but also to forge authentic connections with the locals. More than just a hobby, it is a gateway to integration and a deep understanding of the traditions that shape the cultural identity of Canada, making your own experience more meaningful.

What opportunities are available for residents to participate in workshops or training in Canada? Are there any places or occasions to learn or practice local crafts?

What craft practice have you had the opportunity to try or would you like to try? What were your impressions?

How has discovering and participating in the local artisan traditions enriched your experience as an expat?

What challenges have you faced in trying to get involved in the artisanal culture of your host country? How have local artisans welcomed your interest in their traditional crafts?

What advice would you give to expats who want to explore craft culture in Canada ?

If you have any other relevant information on the local artisan culture, please feel free to share it.

Thank you for your contribution.

In Canada, there are many opportunities to participate in workshops, trainings and events in various craft areas. Personally, I had the opportunity to try basket weaving and knitting and it was an amazing experience. Participating in local crafts has helped me better understand local culture and traditions, as well as establish connections with local people.

There are many opportunities to participate in seminars, trainings and master classes in various craft areas. You can find craft shops, studios and societies in your city or area that offer a variety of courses and events. From woodworking and leatherworking to ceramics and textiles, the choice is vast, and each craft has its own unique characteristics and traditions. Personally, I had the opportunity to try working with ceramics at a local studio and it was an amazing experience. I was able to create my own unique pieces and learn new skills, as well as meet interesting people from the local community.
