my wife and I are American. We’re coming to Portugal for 3 months in July to see if we want to move there in 2025. Do I need a visa for a 3 month stay? In addition, am I able to use any of the social health services while I’m there, or will I need to purchase travel insurance.

@Whipple,

USA passport holders do not require a visa to visit Portugal, for a stay of less than 90 days in any 180-day period.

You can use the private health system. There are international health insurances, such as Cigna or Bupa, which are accepted. However, you should check this with the clinic or hospital you are visiting beforehand.
