Making Decisions on Move

Post new topic

BarnesUK

Morning,

I just wanted to ask here as I’ve been unable to talk to anyone with any said experience.

I’m a UK Born,/US citizen, that moved to the US in about 2007. I’ve just moved back to the UK 3 months ago, to see if it would be a good fit for me here. I’d always said I would end up moving back, so here I am.

However, after some consideration, I’m leaning towards going back.

The problem is I’m hearing so many negative things about the UK. But I’ve also read I don’t want to be in the US after retirement. Due to healthcare costs. I’m 51 right now, and in good shape, but I know that could change.

I know I could get a job easily if I go back to Chicago and have good health insurance, but I know the move I make now would be the last…

I’m single and have no family in the US (just friends) and a sister and mother in the UK.

Having a tough time decided what to do.

Anyone been in a similar situation?

Thanks.

Fred

Are there only 2 countries in the world?

Explore options and you get a few very nice surprises

If you can afford to live in the UK, you can live very well in a bunch of other places.

Play with possibilities.

If I wanted out but didn't know where to, I would make a spreadsheet with the name of every country in the first column, then decide on points from there.

I would add political stability, crime rates, and cost of living in the next three columns.

North Korea, Russia, most of Africa and all of South America would go red in column 4 (If they survived 1 to 3) - 4 is "Places I don't fancy living in".
