I used to live there, and I can tell you that Tinian is a very small place—about 2,000 people, give or take. It’s a tight-knit community, and it's one of those places where you kind of have to know someone to find a place to live. The population might be growing now since the military is starting to use it as a training ground.
Tinian is only a 7-10 minute flight from Saipan, depending on the weather. For now, I recommend booking a short-term stay at a hotel in Saipan until you get to Tinian. Once you're there, I’d suggest asking the landing crew, the staff at the airport desk, or even the airport officers (the place is really small) about accommodations. They’ll likely be able to help you get in touch with someone who can assist with finding a place to stay.
Tinian is extremely small—everyone knows everyone, so it's pretty easy to get connected. It's a laid-back island, and if you immerse yourself in the local culture, you’ll definitely enjoy your time there. Just make sure to stay safe, and don’t eat too many peppers at the Pika Festival!
Best of luck with everything!
Take care,
ps I ll try and get a hold of some contacts and give you more info
