Increased labor costs / minimum wage increase ?

Post new topic

I saw an instagram video saying the minimum wage is increasing 20%. I cannot find the official article stating that as fact.

1) Has anyone seen an official notification?

2) What is your opinion on how much this will add to new housing costs ? and already increasing property costs

In the Dominican Republic the cost of living depends on which part of the country you live in. I am a Realtor/Investor in Punta Caan and I found two projects I want to invest in. So my wife and I decided to cut our cost of living  a bit so things don't feel too tight. All we did was move to another part of town, the cost of living went down. If my kids need to take an Uber here, it costs less than in the area where we lived before. That's just 20 minutes away!

I have been living here for the past 13 years. As I understand that increase took effect last year. If there was a more recent wage increase, I hadn't heard. It's a sign of how strong this economy is. As far as rising costs I feel the Dominican Republic is right on par with the rest of the world. Recent events have affected the entire world's economy. However, because things cost less here to begin with, for me, I can have a nice place to live and nice things for less than I would have to pay in my home country.

This is the site where I got the information last year: https://wageindicator.org/salary/minimu … er-13-2023

If you want official information, the DR government sites end in .gob.do

Hope this is helpful.
