There are fewer cultural offerings in Malaysia compared to Europe or USA because so much in Malaysia is centered around the religions of the different groups. There are various things to participate in around the major holidays, watch for the adverts. East Malaysia promotes its culture in the west side, especially in crafts, watch for adverts and also ask the Tourism ministry for event calendars, likely on its website.
