Jujubug

Dear expats

I have a 9 year rental lease and lived in it for 4 years now. My landlord wishes to evict me to sell. No other reason. How much months compensation am I due by law.? He doesn't mention this or suggest or offer. Only gave me 6 months notice to sign agreement . Please help, stressed tenant. Living in brussels belgium thanks.

your landlord has to give you 6 months' notice if they want to terminate your lease. And they can only terminate your lease if:

your landlord or their family member(s) will move into the property

after at least 3 years, they intend to carry out reconstruction, transformation or renovation work

Alternatively, after at least 3 years, your landlord can terminate your lease without a reason by paying a compensation of:

9 months’ rent if they cancel the contract at the end of the 3d year

6 months’ rent if they cancel the contract at the end of the 6th year

@ievgenfeldmann This was helpful. I replied and the eviction was stopped after proposing your argument. Thank you very much.
