Sorry to post this question, bur there is so much confusing/conflicting information about visas on the web, (including govt. of India sites), that I am becoming desperate.

I am a US citizen and I intend to visit India for two years. Is the following a viable strategy?

  1. Purchase a 5-year tourist multi-entry e-visa.
  2. Stay in India for 180 days.
  3. Do a "border run" via air to a neighboring country for a couple of days.
  4. Re-enter India and start a new 180-day cycle.
  5. Repeat border runs/re-entries until I achieve my two-year goal.

Thanks for bearing with me! Dennis~
