First Direct, ie HSBC owned charges £5 flat rate to mru account . You can do it online to mru bank. Note that in mru, you need to get the IBAN account number instead of sort code and account number. Have used it several times so far  seamless transfers

Thanks. Would i need to have an HSBC account to do this, or can i just walk into a branch? And is it possible to specify the Rupee value, as I'll be paying in Sterling?

@mike102  if you are still in Mauritius, please go to the HSBC bank there and ask if it will be easier to transfer money from the UK if you have a HSBC account in the UK. If so, open an HSBC account in the UK and transfer money into it regularly. And please let me know via a message.

There was a Barclays bank in Mauritius but it has changed to ABSA now.

XE.com flat rate fee of GBP1.99 (about MUR120)
