Current Situation in Ukraine

martinodesa

Hello Everybody, Just a quick few things about Ukraine and traveling in and around. There are large ques going in and out of Ukraine, Be it by car, train, or bus. If you dont mind the travel fastest route is via Moldova and Polanka crossing. From Chisinau its about 1 and a bit hours drive. Or get a local bus from Bus station no 2 straight to Odesa. The cost can be as little as 1500 uha or as much as 3500 uha you need to shop around. One pointer, If your going to visit friends or even volunteer, Unless you have a letter from Ukraine with an invite, DO NOT BRING MILITARY GREENS etc, may be obvious, not too but it happens.

If you enjoy extreme sports, then traveling around the Ukraine at the moment will give you a rush, Buses , trains and taxis still works, life is still moving, new shops open every day, there is still clubs opening at night , you can still get drunk out of your tree and sleep in the street. (until you get a helping hand from the police , lol)

If you not of a nervous type, please visit, the economy needs a little boost, Housing is still cheap, good exchange rates.

Just a quick update, Due to Trump and his merry men, the situation in Ukraine has become very hard, Please do not travel outside of Lviv or Kyiv. All other areas have become a target, A lot of the outer towns loose power for hours on end and internet a bit slow. Buy a kyiv star sim card. works all over and almost never loose contact, It looks like we will be sold out, and loose land just so trump can get rich on our minerals. It is not advisable to be less than 150 kilometres from the hot zones. You need to have travel insurance that covers you for 3 million USA, but check you are covered in a war zone. Keep all your documents with you at all times, dont carry loads of cash, All banks and card systems work as normal, You can still eat, drink and be merry, be mindful of the air raids, your nearest shelter, and keep you phone charged.

be safe
