Returning to Sabah after 90 days

Tammy789

I have a British passport and am a UK resident. I have been volunteering in Sabah on a 90 day social visit pass and am due to return to the UK by the time it runs out. The organisation I'm volunteering for have asked if I'd like to return and continue volunteering for them for another 90 days.

Am I able to do this or would I need a different visa? I know you used to be able to leave Malaysia and then return to "reset" the 90 days but not sure if this is possible now. My plan would be to return to the UK for a couple of weeks and then fly back.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

If you're out of the country for several weeks, esp if you're returning to the UK yo fine. Visa runs are not allowed anymore for the most part. But a visa run is typically a short (less than 3 or 4 days) trip to a nearby country. I remember a gentleman that lived in KL and once every 90 days he'd fly to Singapore, he did that time after time for several years.  It used be common in Thailand as well, it was almost funny the people living in Penang making a visa run to Southern Thailand and at the same time people living in Thailand making a visa run to Northern Malaysia.

@iskandarhack thank you very much for your insight, that does help to put my mind at rest. I couldn't really find anything online about it. I had visions of them turning me away at immigration.
