Hi everyone. I am moving to Cairo next year and I have a 13 year old dog that will travel with me as cargo.

He is very healthy but of course I am aware it is an old dog (which I love as my child) and I am very worried about the travel and, above all, the arriving to Cairo (will they be careful with the cage? will they take him out of the plane soon?...).

Has anyone gone through the same experience? Does anyone know any person working at the airport who I can speak with?

Thanks in advance.

Where are you from?

@Bhavna

when you go to fill in details on that form, egypt isn't available as a destination to relocate the pet.

I wanna know where you came from because you'll need to look up the requirements to bring a pet into Egypt, these are the example requirements you need to read and look for  https://www.aphis.usda.gov/sites/defaul … og-cat.pdf and also this https://www.cdc.gov/importation/bringin … /cats.html They might have the same requirement on what you are looking for and I would suggest consulting with a veterinarian and trying to join some local communities or make contact with a local from Egypt like this https://gowithguide.com/egypt to cross-check if there are these kinds of requirements or not. I hope this would help!

Hi Crisca,

Pets are last on / first off. The ground crews handle  pet crates on a regular basis. When a pet is flying international on a cargo manifest (not checked baggage) the only "handling" is at the cargo warehouse when the crate is set onto a shipping pallet (when the pet is checked in). After that, it's all forklifts and mechanical lifts that move the pet around. The best thing you can do to prepare your pet is crate acclimation. A pet that is comfortable and secure in their flight crate is less anxious and nervous because their crate = safe space. Remember, your preferred airline may not allow you as a "civilian or general public" to book your pet as cargo. A lot of airlines require you use a pet agent for the flight booking and receiving. You will need a USDA accredited vet for your health certificate when it's time. *** is a US based pet agent and they have a stand alone health certificate as well.
