Visa Termination

Hello all. Hope everybody here is doing okay.

I just want to ask if any of you have heard about the visa cancellation procedure now which happened to be implemented 5 days ago according to one personnel from LMRA.

If an expat resigned from a company and that company wants to cancel the expat's visa while the expat is looking for another job within the 30 days grace period after the visa cancellation - is this still the same?

The reason I asked is because I have heard that an employer can no longer cancel a visa of an ex-employee unless that person exits the county? And if that person manage to secure a new employer, the only way to transfer the visa is thru allow mobility only and there's nothing like "cancel" the visa and then re-apply "new visa" with the new employer.

Would really be very helpful to know more about it. Thank you in advance.

Work visa can be cancelled by an employer at any given point of time, however they need to follow the rules and give a proper reason for cancellation. Once the visa is cancelled you have 30 grace days to find a new employer and apply for the visa, this grace period can be extended at LMRA if required.

Hello, I understand and I actually know this process. But see Rehan@12 reply about it. It should be either with offer letter or a flight ticket. This is new. It looks like employer will be tough with the person resigned because if they have not got any job offer letter, the visa will still be active in the previous employer unless they book the ticket of repatriation for the resigned employee and force them to leave the country just to cancel the visa and avoid any other charges if the visa is active.

Hello. This is what I was told. But within the 1-3 days, is there specific period of when should be the departure date of the flight? Is this where my 30 days grace period should be applied. Say, I go on Monday and cancel my visa with flight ticket departure date on 6th of August being the 30th day of my grace period, is that ok?

Rehan@12

Your departure date should be within the grace period.

@Rehan@12

Thank you, that make sense.

Do you know if within my grace period (regardless I have my ticket to leave Bahrain submitted to LMRA) and I found a new job, can I stay and get the new employer to apply the visa for me?

Rehan@12

No, if u r in grace period then u need to cancel ur visa or ask for mobility from ur previous employer.

And one more thing , u can only cancel ur visa yourself when u have completed at least one year with ur previous employer .

Hi Reha, sorry just a clarification on this "if u r in grace period then u need to cancel ur visa" - my grace period will be running already after my visa has been cancelled right (with the flight ticket proof). What do you mean by I need to cancel my visa while I'm on my grace period?

Let's say my grace period is from when they cancelled my visa with flight ticket on 14 Jul, and my flight is on 30 Jul and between 15 Jul to 29 Jul, I received an offer letter from one of company I applied at. Now I'm due to fly out of Bahrain on 30 Jul, but I want to accept the offer I got and it's during my grace period of 30 days, can I still do that and will the new employer still be able to apply for my new visa?

Rehan@12

Sorry i mistyped, i meant if ur visa is expired then u need to cancel it , and when it is cancelled ur new employer can apply visa for u , and if u get offer from other company before ur departure date then also u can apply for new visa.
