Advice on Finding Teaching Opportunities in Luxembourg

Post new topic

Priscilla Mensah

Hello everyone, I’m Priscilla Mensah, an experienced early childhood educator from Ghana. I’m considering relocating to Luxembourg and would love to continue my career in education. Could anyone advise on the best ways to find teaching opportunities, particularly in early childhood education? Are there any specific qualifications or certifications I would need to work in Luxembourg's education system? Any insights on navigating the job market for educators would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This question is specific to your profession and relocation plans and should encourage informative responses.

Hi Priscilla,

Welcome to the community! Regarding positions related to education in Luxembourg, there are many and they vary widely. To work in the Luxembourgish education system, it is essential to speak the country’s three official languages: French, Luxembourgish, and German. Speaking Luxembourgish is particularly important when working with young children (they start learning German and French after the age of 6 or 7; before that, they only speak Luxembourgish).

However, there are other educational systems in the country besides the Luxembourgish one. What languages do you speak? What qualifications do you have? Are you more of a teacher or an educator? Do you prefer working in a school, a daycare, or perhaps in school cafeterias, for example?

Feel free to tell us more, and I’ll be happy to assist you as best I can!

Thank you,

Lauranne,
