Sending debit card.

nicholsharvey

My U.S. debit card is expiring soon. Will my U.S. bank be able to send my new unactivated debit card to me in Brazil?

I would ask them to send it DHL. It seems to be the most reliable service,  but costly.

I remember a previous thread about sending replacement credit / debit cards.  Please make sure to declare this package as "documentation" rather than "business cards or the like".  Documentation does not require to pay taxes upon receipt.

Business related stuff are owed taxes to the RF.

08/28/24  @nicholsharvey.  Great advice from both @bepmoht and @Pablo888 above.  If you don't use the services of a mail forwarder in the US, what they suggest is definitely the way to go.

If you do use a mail forwarder, the safest approach is to have your cards sent to your address there by regular US Mail, and then arrange the shipment to Brazil yourself with the forwarder.

hi, I don’t know if our situations are comparable, but I lost my U.S. debit card here in Brazil. it was a visa. I contacted my bank and requested a replacement, they contacted an affiliate bank here and provided me with a replacement card that was functional. Of course it did not look like a Visa card, but I was able to use it  for the duration of my stay, which at that time was three months. With no issues.
