Hello all,

We are thinking about making the move to the Dominican Republic. Ideally Las Terrenas or Punta Cana but would consider Santo Domingo if it is our only option. We have a child on the spectrum. I have been doing some research but wanted to know if anyne has had any experience in this area. Is there a school you recommend or have heard of that I should look in to? Many thanks!

I know of a family that was here in LT and left because there were not adequate options for their special needs daughter. I don't know exactly what accommodations they needed for her, but they did leave the country in order to find what they needed.

I have heard from a parent of a child with pretty severe ADHD that ISLA Academy here in LT is the only school where their child has thrived.

Thank you so much for the info. The Isla Academy is the only school that has done virtual meetings with us and seem to have some sort of option/program for him. We are definitely trying to what our options are. Ideally we would prefer beach area so we can immerse him in nature and be in a more relaxed area such as LT or Punta Cana. Again, many thanks!

@carynrod815 if you send me a PM with your contact info, I can ask some friends who have kids there (or have kids who graduated from there) contact you to share their experiences. Unfortunately, I don't recall the name of the guy with the thriving ADHDer, but I think one of the other folks would know who he is.
